Great News….

So it was announced today that the ice rink for Edinburgh’s Christmas will happen i am really chuffed at this as i want to maybe interview someone while ice skating to kinda keep the “fun” theme going i may ask the presenter to say something like ” our daredevil reporter went ice skating” and then play the soundbite i also want to catch the sound of folk skating and that great noise when folk skid to a stop when ice skating.

So i have got my interview with Councillor Cardownie set up and ready to go i sent the questions last night and hopefully they will come across as fun.

i am putting the emails between myself and Councillor Cardownie below to show the communications we had.

Dear Councillor Cardownie,

My name is Barry Dickson i am doing an HNC in Radio Broadcasting at Edinburgh’s Telford College.

At the moment i am working on what we call a “package” which is basically a 3-4 minute interview type recording as part of a module.

I am going to do mine on Edinburgh’s Winter Wonderland as my family and myself visit it every year and always have a great time there. So i was wondering if i could have some time with yourself to do some questions/answers on the event , i am hoping to do a lot of recording on site when it opens on 24th November and interview the organisers, operators and of course the general public.

One of the things i would really like to do is have a short interview with yourself as i believe you are the best placed person from Edinburgh council with regards to this great event which seems to be a success year on year.

I hope we can do something regarding this and look forward to your response.

  Edinburgh's Christmas officially launches on Wednesday morning by Councillor Cardownie, so I am sure he will have a lot to tell you. It would also be helpful if you could provide me with a list of questions in advance of the interview, to enable Councillor Cardownie to have the relevant information for you. 

  Please report to the reception at the City Chambers, High Street, Edinburgh when you arrive and I shall arrange to meet you. Also, do you have a mobile phone number that I could have in the event I need to call you prior to the interview?

Please find attached a list of 8 questions i would like to ask Councillor Cardownie.

As you will see they are quite lighthearted questions as the 3-4 minute package i am doing will be hopefully entertaining and lighthearted. i will be speaking to some other people for this package and once i have the finished article i will obviously forward a copy to Councillor Cardownie.
