5k done and dusted

So today was the day Kerry and I have been training for the 5k raising funds for Cancer Research UK.

We started the day having breakfast and I was sitting watching Despicable Me 2, we got ready and headed to Holyrood Park where the run would take place. Robyn, Blaine, Cobi and Kerry’s mum and dad were there to support us and to our surprise Dawn and Sandra who are part of a running club we go with on a Monday appeared they had decided to join us in the run for support and it was great to see.

The run itself was quite challenging, for those of you who know Holyrood Park we started on the big grass field and headed up towards the Commonwealth Pool so you know how steep it gets and boy was it steep, we then progressed around Arthur’s Seat and then back to where we started.

I finished in 32 minutes and Kerry was between 36/37 minutes I met Kerry at the finishing line and was so proud of her for doing the run and although both of us were shattered we had massive smiles on our faces as we walked to find our family.

This run today has hopefully given us closure on what we have been through over the past months and finally hopefully gives closure to the whole skin cancer episode I have been through and I’m not ashamed to say I felt like shedding a tear or to as a wave of relief came over me when I crossed that finish line and gave the MC the superb Andy Malarkey a big high 5.

Once again Kerry and I would like to thank every single person who sponsored or supported us for this it is very much appreciated and will never be forgotten legends each and every one of you.

And for the anoraks out there my iPod playlist included Andy Bell, Erasure, U2, Friends of Emmet, Caroline Gilmour and Avicii.

We done it and done it damn well and are looking for our next one.
